Patience

Even though I haven’t had much of a physical presence on my blogs- (that is about to change)- I’ve still been busy with a gazillion other things like trying to get my business off the ground and trying to make decisions such as whether I need a reporting engine and other technical goodies. I’ve had to do the research on my own- and I admit it is a bit daunting and I find myself a bit lost at times- but that could be a culmination of a list of things. I do feel as though I’m making progress though and I hope that means I’ll be able to go into the New Year with a new perspective and a boost in business. I have faith, but I know it will just take time.

Little While Longer

Filed under: Shop til ya Drop,Techy — gardener @ 6:53 am

Every single place we’ve stayed while traveling has had plasma tvs, which has in turn got Marcel to thinking that we need one for our living room. We have one for the guest room- but he figures it would take up a lot less space if we invested in one for the living room. I know he’s right- but the one we have, albeit not a plasma- is still good. So unless “Santa” brings him one, or our television goes out- he’s going to have to wait a little while longer.

Ready to Go

It won’t be long and the quiche will be done and we can have dinner. Once that is done- I’ll mop the floor (Marcel was sweet enough to vacuum without me even asking) and also make sure that I have the digital recorders ready and everything (including chargers) ready to go. Most of the packing is done- but that’s one of those last minute things. After that- it’s just waiting til morning and Germany here we come.

I’ve never been this deep into Germany- so I’m looking forward to seeing what all the country has to offer. I’m sure I’ll have lots to share once I return.

Making Lists-

I know that it’s July- so this is going to sound somewhat crazy to some of you- but I’m already starting to think about Christmas. Since this year we won’t be home- my buying will be scaled down compared to the years we are at home, but I’ve got my eye on several ideas for my brother- one of which is a garman golf gps. He is a HUGE golf fan and plays as often as he can so I know this is something that he would absolutely love. The great thing is- I can order and have it shipped to mom and dad’s and he can open it there Christmas morning. I’ve got it added to my iPhone Christmas list application and in the next few months will start my ‘official’ shopping.

In case you haven’t guessed- I LOVE Christmas!

Oooh, so That’s the Problem

I rarely print things these days- but yesterday I did want to print something and for some reason the printer did NOT want to cooperate. I played around with it for a while and finally realized that I needed to update the scanner software on my computer and wouldn’t you know it- once I did, it worked like a charm. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it in the first place. Probably because I was over-thinking the situation, as I tend to do from time-to-time. I still want a wireless printer- but I guess until ours really bites the dust – there’s no point.

Birthdays

Filed under: Shop til ya Drop,Techy — gardener @ 5:21 am

A friend of Marcel’s is going to be celebrating his 50th birthday in a couple of months and the guy is a huge fan of cigars. Thankfully he doesn’t smoke them inside his home, because I’m allergic to smoke in general and I find cigars to be a little stinky, but that’s just me. Marcel has been doing a little thinking about what he’d like to get him- and he told me he wanted to know if I could find where to get buy arturo fuente cigars because he thinks that would make the perfect gift for his friend and I have to agree. Since he isn’t one to do a lot (or any) online shopping, I’m sure I’ll be the one to make the purchasing. Since I know nothing about buying cigars I need to make sure that I can order them in advance so that I don’t have to worry about them going stale. Do cigars even go stale? Looks like I have a little research to do.

Evening Snow

Filed under: Techy — gardener @ 6:40 am

I couldn’t sleep last night (which seems to be somewhat of the norm for me lately) and I was browsing the channels and noticed that I had a few problems picking up a few. They were a little snowy- and diddy suggested that maybe I should try indoor tv antennas because sometimes they help. I figured it may be worth a try- especially when I trade in my Kindle at night for a little late night television. It’s either that or I’l have to watch DVD’s.

Endless

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about doing something new. I have been checking out colleges, but I’ve also been doing a little research on possibly applying for a few tech jobs in the area. I haven’t decided exactly which I’m going to go for at this point- but every ounce of my being is telling me that it’s time for change. The possibilities are endless.

#43- Don’t Log into Facebook for a Week

I’m happy to be able to check this off my list of 101 things in 1001 days, as it was one that I wasn’t sure how easy it would be to pull off.

The idea was to spend one week without logging into Facebook, and I really thought I’d miss it. I also thought that by not logging into Facebook that I’d accomplish a lot more, but that was a quickly dispelled myth.

My favorite people are on Facebook. Some people whine and complain about how they don’t like Facebook (but yet, they’re still on there), but I absolutely love it. Seriously, it’s a plethora of most of my favorite people in one place and I love it- It makes me seem a little closer to them, as opposed to the miles that separate most of us. There are some people that I love that aren’t on Facebook and I have to rely on other methods to keep in touch with them, but that’s ok- I can’t have ‘everything’, now can I?

I will admit- that aside from one private message that I received from a friend that was urgent, and I didn’t have an email address to mail her, I logged in and responded to the message a few days ago and then logged right back out. I didn’t look at my wall, I didn’t read the latest feeds, nor did I respond to the other messages that were not urgent. (In case you were wondering how I knew I had a private message- I do get emails that let me know I have private messages on Facebook.) I decided that since I did log-in to respond to the message (I was there maybe two minutes), I added another hour to my week, which has now officially come and gone.

Now- time to go see what everyone has been up to.

Money Train

Yesterday, Marcel decided to take the evening off work so we could take an impromptu trip to the city via the train.   Generally- when traveling to the city we always take the train because we don’t have to worry about finding a parking space, plus we don’t have to pay the outrageous parking garage prices that the city charges.     I love it, because it means no traffic, no wasting gas (and you know what the gas prices are like these days) and it’s fun!    (You can tell I didn’t grow up in a city or a place where train travel was the norm- because it is an adventure to me as opposed as a mode of transportation.)

I have been trying out new iPhone Photo Apps (as part of my 101 in 1001 day project- and also because it inspires creativity) and I took this one with the Instagram App.   I’ve been using it quite a bit lately and like the black and white results with people- namely Marcel.

Our shopping trip was a success- (meaning we bought what we set out to get- a pair of shoes that were on sale, for Marcel).   We even saved more moolah than the original sale price with a few promotions the store had going on- which ultimately paid for our train tickets.

I did find a Burberry bag that I was practically drooling over, and probably would have been tempted to buy- but after all- I do want a new couch this year, and a few other things so I refrained-  for now.     Looks like maybe I should start working a little more so I can indulge in this little lavish gift for myself.   Patience is a virtue-  or so they say.
