New Artforms

I’ll admit that it doesn’t take much to entertain me, which is probably why I am loving this new iPhone application that I downloaded called Percolator.   You run a regular picture through the application and it creates this whimisical piece of ‘circle art’.   I actually love it, and Marcel says he can’t tell what they are and thinks it’s silly.

It’s different, and since I dare to be different, I like it.   In case you were unsure as to what this is- it’s three sunflowers that I had in my archive from a few weeks ago.  I’ve taken some other old images and ‘transformed’ them, but I’ll probably share those in some of my other spaces.

Hope everyone is having a happy, safe Labor Day and is doing as little Labor as possible.

Boys and their Toys

Filed under: Shop til ya Drop,Techy,Travel — gardener @ 2:47 am

Two days ago, while I was laying on the couch, I saw that Marcel was looking online at ipods. I wasn’t really paying attention since I was in and out of sleep but later on that evening he told me that he was thinking it was time to get a new one. He’s has his current iPod for about 4 years now, and even though it doesn’t have the capacity of the newer ones; it still works perfectly. At the time I really didn’t have much to say, because I felt too bad to have any sort of discussion, but I suppose at some point he’s going to want to show me the one he wants. Something tells me it’s going to be one that plays video, but that’s just my guess. I’ll have to wait and see.

Learning Something New

Filed under: Techy — gardener @ 3:57 am

I’ve been doing a lot of research as of late on the best ways to get my website listed in many places and it seems like that no matter what I tend to read, it all turns back to using Search Engine Optimisation, or SEO as you will mostly see it written. I know that it means making the most of out of certain keywords that web crawlers tend to like and pick up on, so that when a person searches for something such as- the ‘iPhone 4’ – it would find them linked back to something that I wrote on this page.

I understand the concept, and know that using SEO also means doing more than using one keyword one time on my blog. I know that in order to get the most optimization you should use a specific word several times throughout the blog entry, so that it somehow will be picked up by the crawlers and indexed by the search engines. I’m starting to understand the concept more and more, so now all I have to do is come up with a viable plan to use it on my site, or I could let the professionals take care of it. I think I’m up for the challenge.

Starting Somewhere

Filed under: Shop til ya Drop,Techy — gardener @ 4:00 am

Mom is probably going to love me for writing this here, but she and I have been talking for a couple of years about starting a new business together. Technically, she would be the mastermind behind the business and I would take care of the technical side and do the Internet part of it. It’s something that I know would be successful, but this is one of those cases where I think we’ve talked long enough about the venture and now it’s time to start making it happen.

Yesterday I started looking into custom business card designs for what will become mom’s business. I have been thinking about logo designs and hope to create several designs that she’ll like. Once she makes the choice (or I’ll choose if she’s resistant), I’ll use the logo for the site, the business cards and also for the labels that we add to the products.

I know mom is going to be successful even if it means me giving her a little push to get the momentum going. Once the business cards are done and a few other things are taken care of; she’ll be ready to go, and I’ll be standing there cheering her on, ready to offer a hand when I can.

Seem to Never Catch Up

I’m trying to play catch up after being extremely busy the past couple of days. I’ve gotten behind on my 30 days, so I have to catch up on both of those, plus Marcel and I are thinking about getting a camcorder for our upcoming vacation and travels that will commence within our vacation, so I’ve been checking out some camcorder reviews in hopes of deciding what will be the best for us. We bought a digital camcorder several (which is more than five now) years ago, but I think it’s time for something smaller and more portable. I think it would be fun to post HD videos to YouTube or even here to share with family and friends. Any suggestions on a great camcorder?

Who Rang That Bell?

This morning I had two friends come over for a coffee visit and I noticed when they arrived that they had knocked on the door. When I opened it, I asked them why they hadn’t used the door chime and they said they had pressed the button, but it didn’t work. They weren’t the first to mention it, and since the chime is so old, I think it’s high time we start looking for a new one. I’d hate to miss an important delivery because the bell wasn’t working.

Looks LIke

It looks like I’m going to have to block some IP addresses if all this spameroni keeps happening in comments.   Granted, y’all don’t see them, but everytime I log in I have more than I care to deal with to either approve, disapprove or mark as ‘spam’.   Obviously they get sent to the delete file and marked as spam.

Thank goodness that the software catches them and they don’t get through the cracks.   It was quiet for a while, but I guess the spammers got restless and have reared their ugly heads again.

Time to say buh buh.

I (Heart) The Internet

One of my favorite things about the Internet is the fact that if I want to know something, the information is pretty much at my fingertips. At this point, I don’t believe there is anything I haven’t been able to find online, and believe me, my interests vary. I’ve searched for everything from merchant account resellers to restaurants in cities I plan to visit. I’ve even looked for specific plants and bugs. I’ve found it all. It definitely makes our worlds a little smaller doesn’t it?

If we want to visit Australia or New Zealand, it’s nothing more than a few clicks away and we are vitually there within seconds.

Inquiring about Upgrades

Filed under: Shop til ya Drop,Techy,Things I Love — gardener @ 7:36 am

I was out earlier today and stopped in to get a little information on the new iPhone. I still have a year left on my current ‘eye’ contract, but yet I can’t help but drool over the idea of having the new one. I did get a few answers, but I’m not 100% sure that the girl I talked to was accurate on some of her information, so I’m going to talk to someone else. I did see some pretty cool iphone accessories and hope that they come out with some for the iPhone 4, so that when I get mine I can have something similiar. In case you were wondering, yes, I do love my ‘eye’ phone that much.

Beach Bum

Filed under: Shop til ya Drop,Techy — gardener @ 1:34 pm

Sometimes I forget that my laptop is so portable and that I can literally take it with me everywhere I go if I wanted to. After spending some time at Aloha today and really not wanting to leave- I decided that I may find out if they have an electric plug in so that I can work outside and then I can be at the beacn and working. I know they don’t have any office furniture accessories, but for an afternoon I can live without them. It’s definintely a thought. People do it at Starbucks, so why not at the beach?
