Rush

Filed under: Sands of Time,Shop til ya Drop,Things I Love — gardener @ 9:46 am

Samantha’s twins are going through RUSH this weekend at school and we are both so excited for them. At this point, it is up in the air as to which sorority they’ll end up going with, but it’s exciting to hear all about it. I’m thinking about ordering them engraved gifts once they are chosen. I know how much they’ll love having something with their new ‘Greek letters’, so as soon as I find out who they are with, I’ll have to see what I can find. I wish I was a fly on the wall to hear all that they are experiencing this weekend. I know they’re having a blast. I would be too!

Day Brightener

Yesterday I received a package from my friend Sarah. I knew she was sending it, but I’d forgotten about it, so when it arrived it was a definate day brightener. It was a belated birthday and Christmas gift and the box was filled with goodies that I fell in love with. Something she sent that I’d never tried before is some Bath and Body Works hand soap with Orange Ginger scent. It is absolutely amazing. It’s still sitting here on my coffee table and I haven’t used it yet, but I keep opening the lid and taking a whiff. I love the combination of the two and it smells good enough to eat- although I’m not about to attempt that one.

Different and Fun

Everyone who knows me knows that I am a huge fan of romance and love. I guess that’s why when I opened my email a little earlier from a friend to ask me what he could get his wife for their upcoming anniversary I wasn’t surprised. He mentioned that it was their 5th and that the traditional 5th anniversary gift was wood and he wasn’t real sure what to do.   He wanted ideas as to what he could do to go along with the dinner that he was cooking for her- all of her favorites, I might add.

Since his wife is my cousin, I know just how fun she is, so I told him he should have some fun with the wedding anniversary gifts. I sent him the picture that you see on your left and told him that I thought he should order it for her, but instead of wrapping it up and giving it to her on their anniversary that he should serve her dinner while he’s wearing it. He loved the idea, and said that he was going to go for it.

Oh how I wish I was a fly on the wall for that moment.

Bargain Shopper

Filed under: Shop til ya Drop,Things I Love — gardener @ 12:21 pm

I was making a list to do some shopping a few days ago and I decided to check out some online coupons and print them out before I headed out the door. I don’t know about y’all, but I love myself a bargain just as much as the next person and if a retailer is willing to give me a deal, I’m willing to take it. I’ve already started Christmas shopping and I always look for online coupons before I order anything. Try it and you won’t be sorry. I have literally saved hundreds over the course of a year simply by spending a little time looking before I check out.

Seem to Never Catch Up

I’m trying to play catch up after being extremely busy the past couple of days. I’ve gotten behind on my 30 days, so I have to catch up on both of those, plus Marcel and I are thinking about getting a camcorder for our upcoming vacation and travels that will commence within our vacation, so I’ve been checking out some camcorder reviews in hopes of deciding what will be the best for us. We bought a digital camcorder several (which is more than five now) years ago, but I think it’s time for something smaller and more portable. I think it would be fun to post HD videos to YouTube or even here to share with family and friends. Any suggestions on a great camcorder?

Fast Forward to Christmas- Almost

Things have been pretty busy around here the last couple of days and on top of everything else, I’ve started thinking about Christmas. Marcel and I will be home with the family this year for the holidays, and while I am scaling back in some areas, I’m not in others. Since our time home will be quite long, I want to have ideas for most of the gifts I want to buy ahead of time so that I can enjoy the time with family and friends without any other holiday pressures (aside from parties and get togethers with people I love). I’ve actually been thinking about a cute personalized gift for a few people and have several ideas. That’s all I’m going to say, since obviously some of them read this space and I don’t want them to know about their potential gift before Christmas rolls around.

I have SO many changes in the works right now- so expect to see more from me in the near future, along with a few surprises.

Unexpected Trip

I found out that a friend of mom’s is going to be flying through the area tomorrow and has a six hour layover here, so I’m meeting her at the airport and taking her into the city to have a look around, plus have dinner. I’m looking forward to finally meeting her, since I’ve heard so much about her over the past year or so from mom. I’ve spoken to her on the phone and we’ve emailed a few times, so I’m really looking forward to it.

Plus, the great thing is, that will also mean a impromptu trip to Starbucks and a Mocha Frappuccino Light. YUM!

I (Heart) The Internet

One of my favorite things about the Internet is the fact that if I want to know something, the information is pretty much at my fingertips. At this point, I don’t believe there is anything I haven’t been able to find online, and believe me, my interests vary. I’ve searched for everything from merchant account resellers to restaurants in cities I plan to visit. I’ve even looked for specific plants and bugs. I’ve found it all. It definitely makes our worlds a little smaller doesn’t it?

If we want to visit Australia or New Zealand, it’s nothing more than a few clicks away and we are vitually there within seconds.

Oh Yeah

My friend, who also reads this space (hey hey) said that she’s heard mixed reports on the importance of using the best prenatal vitamins once she is pregnant. Again, I suggested that she check with her doctor, but I also think that she could probably find some great resources online as to what is the best vitamins for her to take for both her and the little one, once she does get pregnant. Looks like if she gets pregnant, that will be the third friend that I have who is having a baby. Well, I say having- two very close friends have already had little ones this year, and I absolutely adore them both.

Exciting Times

I had an email from a really good friend who told me that she’s trying to get pregnant. I’m excited for her, because it will be her first little one and she is one of those people that I believe will be a fantastic mother. You know how you meet some people and you just know that about them? Well, that’s how I see her. She said someone suggested that she try pregnancy vitamins even before she got pregnant, but since I have no experience in this area, I suggested that she call her doctor and make sure that’s ok. I hope she is able to get pregnant when she wants and that everything turns out perfect.
