Little Piece of Home

Filed under: Things I Love — gardener @ 8:49 am

I love it when mom and dad send me pictures while they are out and about in their yard- working or even just walking around. Today diddy sent me some pictures of the hybrid blackberries he’d just picked and a few days ago mom sent me a picture of their new compost spin composter. I know for some people it may seem like little things- or even the mundane- but for me- it’s a little piece of home- and I love it.

The Good Life

I love it when people that I love contact me to share great things that are happening in their lives and upcoming special events that they have asked me to be a part of. It makes my heart sing to see people happy and living a great life.

I also love it when they ask my opinion on great gifts like the Australian Opal Beads that someone I love is giving to someone they’ve fallen in love with.

We all have our little times when we hit a speed bump but on the whole, life is great and we just need to embrace every great moment.

Little Things-

I’m one of those people who really delight in the little things. I know the ‘little things’ vary by person, but I’ll give you an example. We needed dog and cat food, but I’ve been putting off ordering it because it’s expensive. Granted, it lasts for six months or maybe even longer, but it’s still a chunk of change at once- especially when we need both.

So- I was online getting ready to place the order and I had been looking around for coupon codes (Something I always do before checking out anywhere online) and I couldn’t find anything. I decided to go through my email and see if there were any there- and the ones that I found were expired. Then I saw one from two years ago that was for bulk orders, and since what I was doing was technically a bulk order- I decided to try the code- after all what’s 20 seconds of my time? It worked!! AND it saved us about 12.00!! Needless to say- I was a very happy girl.

See what I mean about the little things? What little things have made you happy lately?

101 in 1001 Days (Do Something for Something for Someone Without them Knowing)

The number two item on my 101 Things in 1001 Days list is to do something for someone without them knowing about it. Without going into any details (because the person may read this space and realize that it was me), I’ll say that I definitely did this and in a big way. I won’t say when or anything else about it, but I will say that in spite of their suspicions, I denied having any involvement and I think they bought it.

What I did was not about me, nor was it about checking something off of my list- (In fact, I’d forgotten it was on the list until much later.) Instead it was about spreading a little love, hope and kindness to someone who was in need at that moment. That’s all I’m going to say about that.

Little by Little

Since we finally bought some new living room furniture- something we’d been talking about for a while and in desperate need of- we have decided that next year we’re going to do some other home improvements. Possibly some new interior doors- painting throughout, along with some new light fixtures and maybe even some switch plate covers. The plan is to wait until Spring- when we can open the doors without freezing- since the smell of paint will bother my allergies- but I’m already starting to get excited about planning and getting it done.

Little by little- 2012 is shaping up to be an amazing year.

Moving Forward

The vacation coming to an end also means that I’m going to be really busy getting everything ready for the launch of my business. I’ve became ‘official’ right before mom and dad arrived and have been doing some planning and such, but the planned launch is the beginning of November. That’s when the site should be launched, even though I should be open for business before then.

I’m also thinking about ordering some Trade show table covers and setting up at a few craft fairs in the area in hopes of drumming up some business. After all- I need to market myself and mostly the goodies and hopefully that will be all I need to have the orders start rolling in.

One Last Thing

I know I said I wasn’t going to talk about London here- but while we were there- we did see the changing of the guards. I don’t know what I expected, but apparently when the Queen is in (which she was) there is a huge ‘to-do’ and things are on a much grander scale than normal. The band played, including a couple of steel drums and even a flute. They played several James Bond tunes and some that I didn’t recognize. Others may disagree, but it was well worth the two and a half hours that we were there in total.

Go to London (101 in 1001 Days Project)

Number 101 on my Day Zero project list of doing 101 things in 1001 days was to take a trip to London. I did. In fact, we got back last night and all I can say is I “Heart” London. I will be writing much more about it on my other blog- but since it was on my list and I do all the updating for it here- I wanted to ‘check it off’. The one thing I really wanted to do but didn’t get to was to see Wicked- but I did see the theater and even shed a few tears. Marcel said he’d take me, but by the end of the day we were so tired, I wasn’t sure how I’d manage the following day- but I’ll be going back again- that’s for sure.

Ready to Go

It won’t be long and the quiche will be done and we can have dinner. Once that is done- I’ll mop the floor (Marcel was sweet enough to vacuum without me even asking) and also make sure that I have the digital recorders ready and everything (including chargers) ready to go. Most of the packing is done- but that’s one of those last minute things. After that- it’s just waiting til morning and Germany here we come.

I’ve never been this deep into Germany- so I’m looking forward to seeing what all the country has to offer. I’m sure I’ll have lots to share once I return.

Christmas in September

Filed under: Shop til ya Drop,Things I Love — gardener @ 10:37 am

In spite of the bad weather- I’ve been keeping mom and diddy busy with venturing from place to place. We have so much planned and the weather has slowed us down a little, but not too much.

Seeing them again was like Christmas in September- because they brought me a lot of goodies that I consider amongst my favorite things, in addition to a few things that mom and dad wanted to share with me, such as the dermorganic that mom has started using on a regular basis. I haven’t started using it yet- but I’m looking forward to seeing how it makes a difference with my hair, which has become pretty unmanagable in the last year or so.
