Food, Food and More Food

That could be the story of my life lately- FOOD, FOOD and MORE FOOD! There are days (like today) when I see photos of myself and I feel so disappointed with the fact that I haven’t reached my goal yet in terms of weight loss. I also know this is because I’m not doing the work and the fact that I have allowed everyday stress and pressure to get the better of me, which has resulted in less than stellar food choices. I own that fact- but for some reason it seems to be more than a matter of ‘just doing it’– my brain seems to be short circuited. I know – it sounds crazy, but it’s true. That’s how I feel at the moment.

I came across a picture of myself the other day- one that I had in my address book as a reminder of where I don’t want to be again- and while I look nothing like that anymore- I still see myself has having a way to go. It will come- I know it will and I also know I’ve got to stop being so hard on myself- but I also need to reel in the reigns that is my life and start working through all that’s happening in my grey matter.

Right now- there is fun to be had with mom and diddy- so the best I can do is try to make healthier choices- and skip the chocolate.

Male Bonding

Filed under: Travel — gardener @ 7:38 am

Last night we were lounging around and watching a show that takes place in Florida (the name slips my mind) and it was about things that happen on the beaches in Florida with the lifeguards. It’s a pretty interesting show- and it amazes me at some of the things they have to deal with. While we were watching- Marcel asked if that the next time we go home for the holidays if we could possibly hook up with orlando fishing guides and find some of the best spots to fish. I know it’s something he’s been wanting to do for a long time- so maybe he, diddy and Matt can go. I know they’d all enjoy a little male bonding time.

Ready to Go

It won’t be long and the quiche will be done and we can have dinner. Once that is done- I’ll mop the floor (Marcel was sweet enough to vacuum without me even asking) and also make sure that I have the digital recorders ready and everything (including chargers) ready to go. Most of the packing is done- but that’s one of those last minute things. After that- it’s just waiting til morning and Germany here we come.

I’ve never been this deep into Germany- so I’m looking forward to seeing what all the country has to offer. I’m sure I’ll have lots to share once I return.

What Really Matters

I’m not sure why- but it has been one of those days. You know the ones- where it seems like everything you touch breaks or falls apart. I know that tomorrow is a new day (thankfully) and in spite of having much to do- I’ve decided that while dinner is cooking that I’ll spend a little time writing and reflecting.

There has been a LOT going on in my world as of late. Most of everything that has happened has been positive- (Started a business, my parents are visiting and we’re vacationing) but there are a few blips on the screen that have raised my stress levels. I keep looking and moving forward- determined not to look back and keep reminding myself that the actions of others are theirs and theirs alone and that I can’t change it. It doesn’t make it easy though- especially when you see people you love and care about getting hurt.

I’m an emotional soul- so it takes me a while to process things and give them a place, but I’ll get there. After all- there are great things happening- We’re headed out to Germany and Austria tomorrow where new adventures await. Not to mention mom and diddy will be sharing that with us- so that makes it all the more special. Focus on the good stuff- that’s what I keep telling myself. After all- that’s what really matters isn’t it?

Precious Moments

The end of my birthday month- It’s hard to believe a month of celebrating has come and gone. Now there are other things to plan- such as vacations with my mom and dad and birthday’s of people I love and adore. Before I know it- Christmas will be come and gone and I have a dear friend who will be looking at first birthday invitations for her little girl who will turn one early next year. It seems that time flies- in the blink of an eye. I often wonder where it all goes, which is why I think it is important to make the most of every, single moment. After all they are each and every one precious.

Putting on My Tour Guide Hat

I’m putting on my tour guide hat in the very near future and this time it is going to be in the ever-so-lovely Great Britian, specifically London. It’s somewhere I haven’t been in my 44 years of life- but I’m looking forward to exploring it with mom, diddy and Marcel.

I am the official planner and coordinator, so I’m looking forward to seeing what I can come up with in terms of accomodations and finding us a show to see. Granted, it’s a no-brainer that I’d love to see Wicked, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it all plays out and what we’ll end up seeing if anything.

It looks like I’m going to have to dig in my heels and start searching to see what I can come up with. It’s going to be a great trip and I can’t wait.

Dreamin’ of London

It looks like in the very near future that I may be planning a little vacation for Marcel, my parents and I to visit London.   I have never been and it’s something that I’ve always wanted to do,so I’m getting a little excited about the possibilties.

I’m thinking that it may be more cost effective to rent an apartment for all of us to stay in for the week, but yet  at this point I’m not sure-   There is still so much to be decided.

At the top of the list of things I would personally like to see-   A show- (Wicked preferably),    Harrod’s Department store,  Buckingham Palace,  The London Eye,  London Bridge, Big Ben, and the list goes on.

Anyone have any ‘must see or do’ suggestions?

Vacation Planning

Filed under: Shop til ya Drop,Travel — gardener @ 9:37 am

Now that I’m pretty sure that we’ll be taking a vacation with mom and dad later this year- I’ve put on my ‘tour guide’ hat and have started making plans. I don’t have anything set in stone as of yet- but I’m scouting locations, one of which could find us in the South of France. We will see where the travels take us. In the meantime- I’ve been playing Words with Friends with my brother and think he’s using a franklin speaking language master to help come up with words. He has literally beat me every single time we’ve played. Maybe I should get one and do some studying while we are on vacation. I simply have to beat him on of these days.

Surprises

Earlier today Marcel brought in the mail. He handed me a card and said that someone left it in the mailbox for me. My name was scrawled across the center of the envelope, but nothing else. From the lack of postage- I knew it had to be from someone local. When I opened it, I saw a beautiful card with a picture of the lavender fields in France on the front. I figured it was from one of my neighbors, but instead it was from one of my dear friends, Hein (Desere’s husband). He went to France last year and I told him how much I’d love to see the lavender fields there. He said he’d take pictures. I forgot about it, but apparently he didn’t. The card said that since he’d forgotten to take a picture of the fields, he was giving me the card instead.

I can’t begin to describe the joy that I felt from that card. I love surprises and it’s the ones that completely catch you off guard that are the best. This one definitely ranks high on my list of ‘catch me completely off guard’ surprises. That little card made my day- and also showed me once again just how truely blessed I am to have such wonderful people in my life.

Rainy Days

Earlier this week the forcast for the weekend was sunny skies for both Saturday AND Sunday. I have a birthday party to attend tomorrow afternoon and was actually looking forward to walking the couple of miles to the persons house. I figured I could soak up some Vitamin D and have a great chat with another friend, who will also be attending the little Sunday afternoon birthday gathering.

Yesterday I checked the weather again- rain, rain and yes, more rain for the weekend forecast. It could be worse- like freezing AND rain, so I won’t complain, although I’m still hoping and praying that tomorrow will at least afford us dry weather to and from our friends’ home. After all, the exercise is a plus and Lord knows I need to kick the exercising up a notch or two.

Since tomorrow isn’t here- I can’t really say what it will bring. Today- on the other hand, has brought the rain that was promised. Marcel is working and I’m home alone with the critters. I’ve made a huge pot of chicken soup and I think I’ll actually spend part of the afternoon curled up in bed reading or maybe I’ll even write a few letters.

It’s one of those great ‘do nothing’ kind of days.
