Spring Fever

Filed under: Pets,Shop til ya Drop — gardener @ 11:47 am

20140319-194210.jpg Spring Fever has hit, and Mister M. is no exception. He has been finding these crazy bursts of energy- where he attacks things (see photo – him just before attacking me- which I may, or may not have provoked.) and runs around like a cat with his tail on fire.

He is funny, and his spring fever has been the source of many giggles the past few days.

In addition, since we didn’t have much in terms of winter, he has also started shedding early, and the Furminator brush has already been getting plenty of use.

Lucky for him, I have an arm (my dominant) that I can’t use at the moment, so he has a brief reprieve.

That Furminator, best pet tool brush for shedding ever!

Pet Rarity- At Least in Our Household

rarityMarcel and I took JJ and Mister M. with us on our little mini getaway last week, and they both loved it.   Mister M. was less than thrilled with the transportation part of the journey, but once in the villa, he was in heaven.  Both of them spent most of their indoor time running up and down the stairs.   If one animal went up, the other was right behind.     It was quite comical at times.

The red leather sofa (which was a perfect accent the black and white checkered ceramic tiled floor) was L shaped- so every evening Marcel would stretch out on one end, and I would stretch out on the other.

The last night we were there-  both of them decided to take over part of the sofa, and curled up beside each other.     This is a rarity.  I can count on one hand the amount of times these lovable pets of ours have done this.

The funny thing-   tonight, they did the exact same thing again, right beside me, while Marcel was napping before work.     Maybe they love each other even more than I suspected?

Unlikely Places

This is a picture that I took a while back when JJ had surgery to be neutered.    I thought it was really sweet becuase Mister, who generally spends most of his time running away from JJ, couldn’t help but want to comfort him and make sure everything was ok.    In spite of the fact that they are both dominate creatures- they still love each other and I’d consider them close friends.

It’s odd how sometimes in the most unlikely places we find ourselves the best friends and that can be one of life’s greatest gifts.

Would You Like a Little Cheese with that Whine?

Filed under: Pets — gardener @ 11:52 am

As some of you know- my four-legged little canine has been sick with bronchitis and I’ll be the first to admit that when he was feeling  bad in the beginning- I was cooking him eggs and mixing them with his food because I thought it would go down easier and keep him from coughing as much.    I see now that was a HUGE mistake- because now said little canine, otherwise known as JJ doesn’t want to eat his food unless there is something mixed in with it.    Several days ago he went a day and a half without eating- now today- he’s eaten nothing, all while begging for food when I had dinner-   I didn’t indulge him and I know when he gets hungry- he’ll eat.

What I don’t understand- is what happened to my perfectly behaved little pup.   I’m not sure if it’s the medication or what- but if either Marcel or myself leave the house- he whimpers for what seems like FOREVER.   If he’s sleeping and I so much as move a muscle- he jumps up and starts whining-   He acts fine- and is full of energy, only he’s whining and I have no idea why.    One thing I do know- is that it’s driving me BONKERS!    Calgon take me away!

About Last Night

I’m fuctioning (if that’s what you call it) on two hours sleep and as I type this am watching my little pup JJ eat his food and praying it doesn’t come back up.

As I’ve shared- there is much going on within my family at the moment- with my Uncle on his final days. I’m here- the rest of the family is there- and there’s definitely something wrong with that picture- Some things can’t be changed, so I’ll deal with it.

Sleep has been a elusive mistress anyway- so I was awake last night and around 3:30 almost to the point of drifting off- when I heard a horrid noise coming from the living room. It was JJ and he was coughing to the point of throwing up. Not just once- but at some point I lost count of just how many coughing spells he had. I woke Marcel- because throw-up of any kind doesn’t agree with me- He was less than thrilled but he cleaned it up- took JJ out for a small walk and he went back to bed. I stayed awake- kept cleaning up the throw-up and changing blankets and praying it would finally stop. It did- but long after it was daylight. My total sleep count- 2 hours.

$100.00 and a visit to the vet later-we find out that our little guy has bronchitis. He was given a shot- some antibiotics and codiene for the cough and I pray it stops soon. I feel so sorry for him. He’s finished eating- now if he can only keep it down.

The Joy of Pets

The weather has been absolutely perfect today, so when Marcel and I got home from a little running around- we decided to take our adorable little JJ for a walk over to Desere’s house.  She was sitting in the back yard soaking up some sun and we decided that we’d join her.

Aside from my mother-in-law’s, JJ has never really been to people’s homes.   We never want to assume JJ is welcome, and Desere is actually allergic.   We asked if it would be ok if we brought him, since we would be sitting outside and she was fine with it.   I’m happy to report that he acted like the perfect little gentleman, and I was a proud pup owner.

Desere went through some old balls of K and T’s and found the one that you see in the picture.  She gave it to JJ to play with, and you would have thought he’d been given a piece of gold.  He played, played and played some more.

By the time we walked the 3/4 mile there, he played with the ball and then walked the 3/4 mile home- the little guy is exhausted.   Isn’t it amazing how animals can bring such a great amount of joy to our lives?    I don’t know what I’d do without both him and Mister M.   They are truly a bright spot.
