Good Neighbors

Filed under: In the Neighborhood — gardener @ 1:57 am

I love it when my musician neighbor sends me emails that say check it out! I know that it means he has something new he wants me to go have a peek at and see what kind of deals I can find. He’s so funny, but one of the most passionate people I’ve ever met about doing what he loves. I love seeing how his band has evolved over the years, even when it means a few hours of lost sleep here and there because of his late night practicing. He always lets us know ahead of time, so I can’t complain. I love having great neighbors

A New Sound

Filed under: In the Neighborhood,Life — gardener @ 11:52 am

Today Marcel and I were listening to a few tracks from something one of our neighbors is working on.  He gave Marcel a recording and asked for us to have a listen and give him some feedback.   I am not a fan of the type of music that he usually plays, but I have to admit that I loved the softer side to these tracks. I asked Marcel if he knew if Dave used a fxpansion, but he really had no idea. He did say that he’d ask just to satisfy my curiosity. I haven’t personally talked to Dave as of yet, but if this is a new side to his music that he’s hoping to explore, then I may just become a fan yet.

Reaching Within

The last few weeks I’ve had this discombobulated feeling. I have SO many projects and thoughts happening- that I am finding it difficult to wade through them all and actually feel as though I am making any sort of headway. I’ve tried various methods- and I still can’t seem to get ‘still’ with myself, so I’m going to try yet something else.

I believe a full disconnect from everything is in order- with a focus purely on myself and what I need to do- in order to gain balance and structure again in my life. Don’t get me wrong, I have a great life, but things are off balance and I recognize that, so it’s time to do something about it before it becomes too far out of whack.

What do you do to balance yourself?

Can You Help?

Filed under: In the Neighborhood,Life — gardener @ 3:43 am

Several days ago, Marcel came home and asked me if I could help him search for something online for a colleague of his. I said sure, and knowing that his colleague moonlights as a musician, I suspected that it had something to do with music, and I was right. He asked me if I could help him find euphonium at MF’s since he wasn’t sure where to begin the search. I did help him, printed out all the information, and he took it to his computer-less friend the following day. The colleague was grateful and so was Marcel. Now I’m expecting him to come home any day now with a request to place an order for his colleague, to which i’ll definitely oblige him.

Musical Inspiration

Filed under: In the Neighborhood,Inspiration — gardener @ 7:44 am

I was listening to some music that a friend of mine had posted the other day and followed a link that said click here for more. It took me to another site that was filled with his music from over the years- from the time we were in High School up until now- It was amazing and so inspiring to see how far his style has changed throughout the years- but it was beautiful to listen to.

Things like that always inspire me- in so many ways. What about you? What inspires you?

Decisions

Filed under: In the Neighborhood,Life — gardener @ 4:39 am

Tonight is “home alone” night for me. Marcel is working tonight, and my neighbor is having a few friends over so he can test out his shred x and invited me over to have a listen. I haven’t decided yet if I will pop in, because right now I’m feeling somewhat tired.

I also know that it doesn’t really matter if I ‘show up’ or not- because I’ll hear them playing from here. Either way- I know it will sound great- he always does, plus I know they are working on some new tunes.

Decisions, decisions- Pj night or hanging out with neighbors. What’s a girl to do?

Three Days Later…

Filed under: Food for Thought,Home,In the Neighborhood — gardener @ 10:07 am

Three days ago I posted how we were almost a week into this month and there wasn’t a shower in sight. I now stand corrected! Yesterday the rains started, and it’s been a crazy ride ever since. One moment rain, the next sunshine, and the next, a combination of rain and hail. All with some wind thrown into the mix for fun.

Truth is- even though the temp has dropped 10 degrees since yesterday and it’s pretty chilly outside, I know the plants are soaking it up and smiling, as are the trees. After all, they need it to continue their beauty.

The balance of nature reminds me of life- and the importance of having it in our own lives. We need it not merely to survive, but to thrive.

Snowing on Good Friday

Filed under: In the Neighborhood,Life — gardener @ 8:45 am

It’s snowing- March 29th and it’s snowing. Wait- I take that back, the snowing has almost ceased and now the sun is shining. I wonder when I see weather like this- where normally it’s cool out- but not cold- if ole’ Al Gore rethinks his idea on the whole Global Warming thing- or if, like so man other things- he has an explanation for it?

What’s the weather like in your corner of the world?

Growth

Filed under: Home,In the Neighborhood — gardener @ 9:00 am

Since the last time we were here- Mom and diddy have a new pastor at their church and I’m looking forward to meeting them on Wednesday night. I’ve heard great things about them, and they are really making big changes and progress is happening. They’re getting ready to build a new sanctuary- and who knows, before long they may need to look for church buses for sale for programs and events that they attend. Love seeing this kind of progress and growth.

Weird Weather

Filed under: In the Neighborhood,Life — gardener @ 5:59 am

We’ve been having what I consider to be one of the wierdest summers that I can remember. One day (like today) it’s gorgeous and sunny out and the next it’s raining and in the low 50’s.. It’s been like a yo-yo for weeks now. I told Marcel last week that you know something’s wrong when you need an electric fireplace in the middle of June. What’s weather like in your corner of the world?
