Back in the Saddle

I didn’t have much time to spend writing when we were on our trip home. Instead, I spent all of my time focused on spending time with the people I love dearly.

We had adventures on top of adventures, and a few that we didn’t even bargain for- but it made the journey even better. I didn’t have a lot of time for pause, and to think about 2015, but now that we are back home- and I’m getting back into the swing of things- I’m not only being proactive in the great things swirling around for this year, but I’m also pulling a few things together that will allow me to continue to learn and grow.

I have a couple of workshops that I’ll be attending- all in the spirit of learning, plus new potential business ventures on the horizon. I am blessed beyond words, and grateful beyond measure.

P.S.

We are on the countdown til vacation! YES!! I tend to check the flight app a couple of times a week for no other reason than to look at the countdown til ‘check-in’ and feel the joy it brings me to know that our vacation isn’t too far away. We have been making plans and looking forward to spending time with family and friends during the holiday season.

Can you tell I’m a tad bit excited?

Best Lives

Some of you who read my site regularly- or who know me in real life know that I own a small baking business. Sharing happy moments with others and doing that through baking is one of my passions, so I decided to make it an official business. I love it- and have learned a lot along the way. In fact, I continue to learn, which is another one of the things that I love and adore.

I’m part of a cake group- and I love how people come together and not only share cake ideas, business thoughts, but also the simple things like wedding venues and wedding dj contact information for certain areas. It is so inspiring to see people co-creating and living their best lives.

Birthdays and Beyond

My 47th birthday came and went. You know what I felt? LOVE. Granted, I feel love every-single-day, but for some reason, this year I really felt it to a greater degree.

Marcel surprised me with a wonderful dinner at a restaurant we haven’t been to in several years. It’s situated right on the lake, and the weather was perfect, which allowed for us to eat outside on the terrace.

I asked Marcel not to give me a gift- since it’s our year to go for vacation, and truth is- I don’t have anything I ‘need’. I was happy that he actually listened, and that dinner and the huge bouquet of sunflowers he gave me at midnight to start my birthday were gift enough. We were together, we were happy and healthy- what else could a girl want?

Today I spent the afternoon with two good friends- in a late birthday celebration. I hadn’t seen either of them in quite some time, so it was great to be able to catch up and just enjoy their company.

I’m grateful for the people in my life- and also knowing that there is nothing but more blessings coming my way in this new year of my life.

Finally-

After months and months of being undecided on a paint color, we’ve finally chosen not just one- but TWO!    I’m so excited, and can’t wait to actually get the ball rolling (or is that the roller rolling?) on this project.     We decided to paint all the walls one color, with the exception of one wall in each room, and that wall will be a contrasting darker color.   I-Can’t-WAIT!

We still have a few things to decide-  like whether we’ll change the color of the trim work, when in reality it can work as it-    plus I still need to decide on what Annie Sloane chalk paint that I’ll be using for the built-in shelving unit, but progress excites me!    Maybe if Marcel is feeling a bit better next week, we can visit one of the stores that carries the Annie Sloane paint, so I can choose the one that will go perfectly with the colors we’ve chosen.    Seeing in person is always the best way to go.

Plus with it appearing that Spring is coming early, looks like we may be able to get it painted earlier than anticipated.  We’ll just need to contact the contractor and set up a date that works for all of us.

Wedding Bells

There are few things that excite me more than to see people that I love filled with happiness and joy. Recently, two of my dearest friends have decided to get engaged, and the wedding plans are in full swing. I’ve been blessed enough to be asked to be a part of the planning and celebration, which has inclueded the discussion of rings- both are leaning towards the idea of platinum wedding bands, which I think will be perfect with the engagement ring.

I can not wait to hear the date- which is yet to be decided, and then the planning really begins. I love weddings, even more so when it’s between two people that I adore.

Countdown to Travels

Just a few days (six to be exact, but who’s counting?) and vacation officially begins. Four or five days after vacation begins, so does the travels. On our list of travels- France, Germany, Belgium, England and maybe more.

IF all goes as planned, we’ll finally be able to see the beaches of Normandy, something that has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember.

The coming months are going to be busy ones- and honestly, it couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m looking forward to all the new experiences and the fun times with people we both adore, plus all the people we will meet along the way.

Let the fun begin!

Going Digital

Have I ever mentioned how much I absolutely LOVE the digital magazines on my iPad?   I do.   I’ve gone digital on all my regular subscriptions (O Magazine and Southern Living) and because of the overall affordability of digital- (and all the great coupons Zinio sends) I’ve now got subscriptions to ALL of my favorites-   Taste of Home, Rachel Ray, Food Network, Martha Stewart Living,  HGTV,  Donna Hay, Reader’s Digest, Cosmopolitan and the list goes on…

I download them to my device when it’s time for the new issue and read them at my own leasure-  mostly when I’m on a trip somewhere or traveling.     I can take months and months worth of magazines and stacks of books all tucked away in my iPad-   There is nothing better for anyone who loves a good read or a good magazine.

Travelin’ Shoes

I’ve been doing research throughout the month (and before) for fun places for us to go on vacation and we are ready to go. I’ve been doing my homework, making reservations and it looks like thus far- our travels will include four countries. More on exactly which countries later.

I am excited- VERY excited. Good times await with great people.

Tiptoe Through The Tulips-

tulips1
Earlier in the week- Marcel had a day free, and after having a pretty slotful day- we decided to set out on a quest to find some tulip fields.   It was time for my annual ‘tiptoe through the tulips’.   Since Old Man Winter was late arriving and lingered far longer than anyone expected-  the tulips are actually just starting to bloom.

As you can see, it was an absolutely gorgeous day- and we found fields of daffodils and hyacinths, but none of my beloved tulips.

Since then we’ve had more sunshine and great temperatures, so my hope is that we’ll find some time in our schedule this coming week to get out one evening after dinner and go for a drive.   Maybe then a little tiptoeing will be in order..

Until then- I’ll just enjoy the mild temps and gorgeous sunshine..
