When To Enlist Junk Removal & Rentals

Filed under: Home — gardener @ 11:21 am

There is hardly an attic or crawlspace across Canada that has not been clogged with clutter at one point or another. Instead of regular cleanings, low-traffic areas tend to collect unwanted items. It is easy to become bogged down in baggage but property owners do not have to be left holding the bag. Professional junk removal services are available at any point, but there is no time like the present. Whether you are moving, taking over a property or are just ready to maximize your space, these are all times to call in a professional removal or bin rental service.

Depending on the type of items that you are dealing with, property owners or managers can benefit from having staff on scene or from the convenience of a bin rental. Anything can be classified as junk to the right person, but unwanted items can be broken down into two categories: the stuff that you collect and the stuff that you inherit. Different situations call for a different approach:

Household Clear Outs: It might be spring cleaning, gearing up for a move or just a refresh but most residential properties can be tackled with a bin rental. You might be surprised what collects around spaces when no one is paying attention. Newspapers, trash, broken sports equipment and anything that does not serve a purpose can be tossed into a bin to be carted away, sorted and sent to its final destination.

Managing An Estate: When an estate changes hands, so do all of the things in it. This can mean dealing with a lot of different items, ranging from furniture, to appliances and fixtures, or just plain old trash. In this situation, it is beneficial to have a junk removal team available to help organize and recycle applicable materials. This might mean taking them to recycling plants or to local charities for donation.

Taking On A New Property: Purchasing a property can mean coming across unexpected items. Office spaces, for example, might come with heavy furniture or cabinetry. Having to haul this away requires muscle, transportation and usually dumping fees. Instead, have an expert remove these items safely, with the help of an experienced team and the right vehicle to get the job done right.

Moroccan Berber Rugs in Your Residence

Filed under: Home — gardener @ 10:10 am

A beautiful living space can make you feel good about yourself. It can give you extra confidence. It can also impress any guests who come your way. If you want to design a home that oozes appeal, there are certain components that may be able to help you achieve your goal. Moroccan Berber rugs are one such example. If you want your home to look modern, exotic and fresh at the exact same time, traditional rugs made by the Beni Ourain peoples of North Africa are exactly what you need. Moroccan Berber rugs are the perfect combination of contemporary and timeless. That’s why they’re the ideal home design elements for people who lead fast-paced and busy lifestyles. They’re versatile. They’re so many different things all wrapped into one!

A Beni Ourain rug in your home can contribute to a look that’s endlessly inviting. Berber rugs feature sharp and geometric designs that look like nothing else you’ve seen before. Although they’re steeped in tradition and the past, they also have distinctly modern feels. This may be due to their geometric patterns. If you like the idea of a handwoven rug that’s full of diamonds and other meaningful symbols, you can’t go wrong with these stunning Berber rugs.

These rugs are amazingly resilient. That’s exactly why they can work well in so many types of households. If you’re a single professional who has no children but who regularly invites guests over for dinner and general gatherings, you’ll love how strong and dependable these rugs are. Moroccan Berber rugs can tolerate a lot. They can tolerate significant foot traffic on a daily basis. That’s also why they’re so great for parents who have energetic children in their homes. If you’re the parent of a rambunctious three year-old, you won’t have to worry about the little guy damaging your gorgeous rug in any way. That’s true freedom.

Moroccan Berber rugs also feel absolutely wonderful. If you’re sick of walking on rugs that feel hard, stiff and just plain uncomfortable, a Moroccan Berber rug will make a superb change of pace for you. These rugs are incredibly soft. They make the feet feel like royalty. They’re also nice and warm. If you dislike nothing more than walking around on floors that feel cold, you won’t be able to resist all of your Beni Ourain options. These rugs are rapidly gaining momentum everywhere. People are drawn to them for so many diverse reasons. It isn’t at all difficult to keep these rugs in strong condition. They don’t have complex or time-consuming maintenance requirements. People who want to invest in low-maintenance rugs that are beautiful and appealing should take the time to look into these traditional delights today.

Happy February

Day three of the second month of the year and I heard through the grapevine that we’ll be getting six more weeks of winter as Mister Phil saw his shadow.     Quite truthfully-  aside from the grey days and a few days of really cold weather, we haven’t seen ‘that’ much winter, so I wouldn’t mind a bit of snow.

I know-   my summer-loving friends are cursing me under their breath about right now, wondering how I could dare wish for such a thing when there are sunnier skies and warmer weather to be had.    I am a love-all-seasons kind of girl, and I do love the coziness or hygge of the winter months.   I’ve been getting some writing projects done, working on various organizing projects, plus work has been keeping me busy as well.  Add the social activities and life has a good buzz happening.

What about you?  Do you prefer the hustle and bustle of Summer or the coziness of Winter?

Getting Organized

It’s hard for me to believe that we are in the last week of the first month of 2017 and it seems like a huge blur.   When I look back, I can’t figure out where the month has gone, and I also can’t figure out what I’ve done this past month, although I know that I’ve accomplished more than my mind first thinks of.

I’ve been in the process of reorganizing my business supplies and finding a better way to utilize the space that I have.    At times- I wish I had more space or at least a professional organizer, but since I don’t- I’m making the most of researching containers to store things in and creating a better system to keep everything much more organized.

I know having photo props, event items, plus cake pans, fondants, cookie cutters, and ingredients all labeled and organized by season and so forth will make life SO much easier for me when it comes to creating-    I also love beautiful packaging, so I’ve got an ever growing supply of ribbon as well.  I love it though 🙂

What are your favorite tips for organizing supplies?    Any favorite product ideas you’d like to share? I’d love to hear about them!

Dreaming of a White Christmas

Marcel and I spent a few days away earlier in the week and on the first day we were gone, we arrived at our hotel to find that the ground was covered in white.  It wasn’t snow, but a heavy frost that stayed all day (with the exception of where the sun shined directly on it), and it was absolutely breathtaking.

I was able to grab a few photos before the sun went down, and my intention was to get up early the next morning and to visit some of the hiking trails and take a few more shots of the beautiful area and frost.    Unfortunately the blue skies were replaced with grey and during the night the frost had melted, leaving behind the magic of the frost.

Since I grew up in the Deep South and a white Christmas is almost unheard of,  I dream every year of having a White Christmas.   Since moving I’ve had one twice in the last fourteen years, plus I had one once when I lived in Williamsburg, but that’s all.    It’s beautiful, peaceful and filled with magic and I’d love one this year.    I know I’m not the only one, and I also know with snow comes road hazards, but Let it snow! Let it Snow!   If only for a day!

Slow Progression

If you know me in my real life- then chances are you’ve seen some of the improvements we’ve made to our home over the past year. I would love to be able to say that we are done, but truth is- it’s a slow process. We get sidetracked with other projects and other things take priority, and the home improvements take the back burner.

With all that being said- there is still a LOT to be done, but progress is being made, albeit slowly, so I can’t and won’t complain. We still have painting to do, plus some painting that has been done has to be touched up due to doors hitting the wall and so forth. I’ve found some wonderful lighting at www.warehouselighting.com, plus we are now considering the idea of ceiling fans for the living room and both of the bedrooms that are used as bedrooms. There is a lot to decide, but we have time.

One thing is for certain- I definitely want to see more progress being made over the next year or so. It’s time.

Making Progress

Filed under: Home,Life,Life's Little Hiccups — gardener @ 12:04 pm

This morning I went out to our storage shed with the idea that I was going to browse our Christmas decorations and possibly find some inspiration as to what we would like to do for our tree this year in terms of size and decoration / theme. What happened instead, was me going down a rabbit hole of getting certain things organized out there, as I couldn’t make heads or tails of some of the boxes out there. I found several rca cables just lying on a shelf. No name, no labels, no boxes they should go in nearby. I also found some flower pots that should have been tossed last season due to cracks and so forth. Needless to say, it was a productive time in the shed, but not the same type of productivity that I’d envisioned. BUT with that being said- it’s one less thing to have to think of that I can check off my ‘to do’ list- even if I didn’t have any idea it was ‘that bad’ out there.

Do you have a space in your home or garage that seems to never stay organized?

A Few of My Favorite Things

Do you ever have certain things about seasons that bring you a great deal of joy? I have a few things with Fall and Winter weather. One of my favorite things about being ‘home’ for the holidays (outside of the obvious time with family and friends), is that I love the days when it’s really cold and we have clear blue skies. I love to take that time to sit outside with a huge cup of coffee and enjoy! It’s perfect.

Here, the weather is often very cold and dreary- which doesn’t give way to the same type of euphoric feeling that the blue skies give. I don’t know what it is- but the sunshine and blue skies combined with cold- is perfect!

I’ve been EXTREMELY grateful for the fact that despite missing being ‘home’ for the holidays, the weather has been absolutely perfect- embodying all the things I love and miss about being ‘home’ in the South this time of the year.

My question to you, dear reader- What things about the season bring you joy? Not the obvious things- but the little things. The things that often are taken for granted or go unnoticed?

New Month- New Adventures

It is hard to believe that August is here and Marcel and I recently celebrated our 12 1/2 year anniversary.  I know, that is an odd anniversary to celebrate, but it’s traditional here-   I guess half way through to your 25th is worth celebrating.  Personally, I believe every day is worth celebrating, and I do celebrate every breath- even if some days I’m more focused on it than others.

IMG_7342One thing I did do this week was whip up some biscuits for Marcel.   Occasionally, I really crave a good buttermilk biscuit and Marcel is always game to eat them, as he loves them.    I had some good bacon, so I pre-measured everything the night before, had my butter grated and in the freezer, my dry ingredients measured and in the fridge.   The following morning I snuck out of bed and got everything mixed up and going before his feet ever hit the floor.   He isn’t one to like to ‘wait’ for breakfast, so I was glad  I could get it going before-hand.    He opted for no egg, and gobbled up two biscuits with ham.    I, on the other hand, made a meal out of what you see in the photo.  Add a cup of coffee (or two) and a huge bottle of water, and I was set.

Sometimes you just have to abandon the Greek yogurt and fruit for something a little more indulgent.   This was one of those days.

As this first week of August comes to an end, we are gearing up for a little travel.   A ‘break’ to get away from it all & I’m looking forward to seeing what adventures those few days bring.

This is going to be an amazing year.

Summer Lovin’

Aren’t y’all just LOVING the fruits and vegetables available for summer?    I always think each season brings my favorite fruits and vegetables, but truth is-  I believe it’s summer.    I have probably easily eaten 20 pounds of strawberries this summer, and just when I was feeling somewhat saddened that their season was almost gone for the  year-   here come the cherries, peaches, watermelon and nectarines.   I have been enjoying berries and also a few cherries, but this time tomorrow they should be taking center stage in my birthday cake.      I’m not going to spill the beans fully, but I do hear that chocolate and cherries are part of the fun.

I am going to ‘try’ (key word there) to only taste this cake, as I’ve been baking too many luscious goodies for this celebration month, and I know I’m going to be needing to kick up the exercise a HUGE notch.  Thank goodness Marcel and I are going to be starting Whole 30 soon, because I can tell my body is in need of a cleansing and I need to cut the sugar.

That will definitely be part of the gift to myself towards the end of this upcoming week-  cutting out the sugar.  I’ve had more than my share lately, and it is time to find a balance without it.

Our home projects are also about to get kicked up a notch or three-  plus I hear some traveling is in the hat to happen sometime in August-  maybe even September.

I’m sure I’ll be filling y’all in on all that as it all unfolds.  In the meantime-   the bath awaits.
