It’s Beginning to Look….

Filed under: Holidays,Seasons,Shop til ya Drop — gardener @ 2:06 pm

Someone posted on Facebook earlier today exactly how many days it was until Christmas. I found myself groaning a little, not so much because Christmas isn’t ‘that’ far away, but because people are starting to post x days til Christmas. With that being said- I will admit that I’ve already started thinking about Christmas and have opened my passworded gift app- and started adding gift ideas, links on where to pick up things- and prices. It’s the best app ever for gift buying. It keeps everything all tied up in a neat little bow, which I love.

Marcel has expressed wanting a pair of the new beats, and while I personally think the pair he has is perfectly fine, I know that it’s one of those little things that would make him happy. He is constantly listening to music with his current pair, and I know an updated version would sound even better. So- it’s on the list. Along with a new pair of shoes- and the Abercrombie training pants he’s been eyeing for a few months now. That’s all so far- but I know the list will expand as the days pass and inspiration strikes.

Party Planning

Filed under: Gratitude,Holidays,Inspiration,Life,Shop til ya Drop — gardener @ 8:16 am

One thing is for sure- this ‘free time’ I’ve had because of my arm, has given me an abundance of time to party plan. This year is composed of many wonderful elements, and one of those is that this year is the year of parties.

Not only am I hosting a few myself (which I can’t wait for), but we’ve also been invited to several, which I know are going to make the year even more fabulously fun than it already promises to be. After all, who doesn’t love a good party?

Something that also excites me, is the fact that plans are already being made for gatherings and parties when we get home later this year for the holidays The fact that people want to see and spend time with us makes me happy enough, but the fact that they want to have special gatherings in our honor, makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside- beyond words.

My upcoming party- I’ve finally got the cake idea sketched out and ready to ‘create’. It’s going to be interesting to see if the sketch and idea I have in my head matches the actual finished product.

Sometimes, like this morning- I was feeling a little down, but I need not do more than look around me to realize just how blessed I am and how awesome life really is. That, in itself is worthy of a party- of gratitude for the awesome people in my life. Thank you!

Pet Rarity- At Least in Our Household

rarityMarcel and I took JJ and Mister M. with us on our little mini getaway last week, and they both loved it.   Mister M. was less than thrilled with the transportation part of the journey, but once in the villa, he was in heaven.  Both of them spent most of their indoor time running up and down the stairs.   If one animal went up, the other was right behind.     It was quite comical at times.

The red leather sofa (which was a perfect accent the black and white checkered ceramic tiled floor) was L shaped- so every evening Marcel would stretch out on one end, and I would stretch out on the other.

The last night we were there-  both of them decided to take over part of the sofa, and curled up beside each other.     This is a rarity.  I can count on one hand the amount of times these lovable pets of ours have done this.

The funny thing-   tonight, they did the exact same thing again, right beside me, while Marcel was napping before work.     Maybe they love each other even more than I suspected?

Keeping it Real

We are heading off for a week on Monday, to spend some time at what we now coin our ‘home in the north’. It’s only about two hours from here, but it’s north to us. As it turns out, it looks like we are going to have some amazing weather, which means I suspect we’ll spend some time walking through the woods around the lake we will be at. It’s going to be one fun week, and what a great way to spend the celebration of our ten year anniversary.

I love that we are both spending more time being active, and how we are both wanting to add exercise as part of our ‘family’ activities. We’ve been spending time on the elliptical, and I suspect that it won’t be long before we’re both doing regular kettle bell work outs together. Right now, I’m just getting stasrted on them myself, but looking forward to seeing the transformation that I know is happening, even though I can’t see it. I feel it.

I have one body, and one life- it’s time to make sure I keep it as healthy as possible.

Christmas Gifts

Filed under: Holidays,Life,Shop til ya Drop — gardener @ 8:27 am

Marcel and I decided that since we had bought a Smart TV in November, that it would seem somewhat silly to really go ‘all out’ and buy gifts for each other. Neither of us really needed anything major, and as much as I know he loves buying me jewelry, I have more than I need. So we decided that we would buy each other one gift and roll with that. After all, Christmas isn’t about the gifts.

I ended up picking up a shirt for him that he loved, and when he asked for suggestions of things I’d like- I knew there was one thing I ‘really’ did need, a new hand mixer. The one I have has seen better days, to the point of not always turning off when I turned it off, and sometimes getting ‘stuck’ in high speed.

I’d seen one a loved at a local retailer, plus it was twice the HP as the one I currently had, and the price was right. So that was my gift. I know some people may gasp at the idea of not having a ‘romantic’ gift under the tree- but the thought that he listened to the little thing I needed speaks volumes to me. On top of that, it’s a gorgeous sunny yellow, so everytime I look at it- I will smile.

How was YOUR Christmas?

Oh Christmas Tree

Today Marcel and I made great use of our afternoon and went out on the quest for the perfect Christmas tree. I don’t generally like using the word perfect for anything, because I think that there is too much focus on the word perfect, which creates sometimes unrealistic expecatations. I knew our quest would mean perfect for us, and within moments of beginning our Christmas tree search, we’d found just what we were looking for.

The bonus- was that the store we’d purchased our tree from, was offering a 20.00 gift card for anyone who purchased a real tree over the price of 24.95, for use in their store at a later date! SOLD! It was really busy there today. There were plenty of people looking for Christmas decorations and other gift items, but everyone seemed cheerful. I love that, and of course, it only made the shopping adventure more joyful!

So now our beautiful tree is sitting in a pail of water awaiting it’s decoration day. We are a little late with our tree this year, but some things are worth waiting for, and a Christmas tree is definitely one of those somethings. Not to mention, we were traveling last week.

Let the festivities begin!

Tis the Season

Filed under: Holidays — gardener @ 12:29 pm

I don’t know about you- but I can’t believe that the first day of December is upon us. That means one thing- Christmas! Deck the halls and fa-la-la-la-laaa and all that fun stuff.

We are keeping things simple in terms of gift giving, but one thing is for sure- I’ll definitely be shopping local where I can, and looking for online coupon codes before I buy anything online. I know- I say it every single year, but I can’t tell you how much I’ve saved over the years, simply by doing a quick Google search before ordering online.

Not just during the Christmas season, but ALL the time. It definitely makes a huge difference..

So where do you buy most of your Christmas gifts? Online or in the stores?

Taking Care of Me

Now that the hustle and bustle of getting everything done after being gone for two months- Marcel has started back to work and I’m taking a little time to just think about myself and relax.

After lots of indulgence during our holiday- it’s also time to get back into a healthy eating pattern and regular exercise regime. I’m taking one thing at a time- but the getting back into the healthier eating started yesterday.. It’s going to be a process, but I’ll get there. I’m determined for this to be a year of stepping out of allowing any type of fear to control my life- so I can live an unlimited life. That’s going to open doors in every aspect of my life- and I’m excited about it.

In the meantime- I’m still focusing on the positive around me- and even though I’m on a little break from a lot of technical aspects of life- I’m trying to keep up with blogging and start spending more time within my own thoughts and putting them out there.

So today’s bits of gratitude are as follows:

  1. The joy that playing ball with JJ brings me.
  2. Marcel going to the grocery store for me today since I was struggling with a migraine.
  3. Having nothing pressing-which is allowing me to concentrate on my own rest and getting back into the swing of things.
  4. Real friendships.
  5. Warmer temps after a week of below freezing weather.

Home Again

I’m in the processes of getting over a little jeg lag- and back into the routine of things after a two month vacation, but we are home and settling back in after a fantastic trip with the family and friends. We made so many wonderful memories that I will carry with me for a lifetime and Marcel found himself really getting the itch to move. It’s still something we are considering, but right now- we are fulling living exactly where we are and not spending our time wishing our life away for something else. It doesn’t mean we aren’t or can’t make plans, but it isn’t going to hinder where we are now and fulling living here.

Right now- I have a little pup who is in serious need of a bath, but now that we’re back home and I’m getting settled I’ll be spending more time writing again. One of my goals this year is more structure in my blogging, so good things are coming!

Happy Christmas Eve!

After waking up to the sound of rain falling- I’m peering outside as I type this and see that the sun has made an appearance. Mom says that it’s really humid out- with mild temps, but tapping on the heels of all that is yet another cold front, so cooler weather is yet again on its way. I’d forgotten how crazy Southern Mississippi weather can be this time of the year, but it’s a lot milder than years past- or at least that’s how I am remembering it anyway.

It’s hard for me to believe that it’s Christmas Eve. Tomorrow, Christmas Day. Tonight we will spend the evening with people I love dearly, and tomorrow we’re having a relaxing and laid back Christmas- with our festivities happening for supper instead of the late lunch that it has traditionally been. We’re also having soup- which I love the idea of- plus Christmas breakfast- something I don’t think we’ve ever done since we always eat so early.

What are you doing for Christmas? Whatever it is- I hope you find yourself surrounded by much love and joy!
