On to the 40’s Club

Filed under: Life — gardener @ 1:30 am

I spend the evening last night in the company of Desere, Hein and her family and friends. It was her 39th birthday, and next year she’ll join me in the 40’s club. Granted, I have a few years head start on her, but after much fretting about making it into my 40’s, I have to say that I happen to like it.

I really like her family, so it was great to see them again and have a chance to talk to them. I also enjoyed getting out and not having to think about work or anything else for a while. I think that’s the only downfall to working at home, you can always find yourself being drawn back to your work, when there are other things you should be doing as well. I’m definitely not complaining though, I love my work and wouldn’t have things any other way.

One thing I have been missing in tis little space is what I’m grateful for each day. The weeks before Thanksgiving I put things on my Facebook status, and that’s when I realized that I missed it so much, so expect to see more of what I’m grateful for, starting today.

Wouldn’t You Know?

Well I finally did start working out again, only to find that the next day (yesterday) my favorite monthly friend decided to pay a visit and brought cramps with a vengance. I know, that is probably a little more information than you’d actually like to know, but it’s true. I have been hurting, but once this little week has passed, I’ll be doing regular work outs. I need to and I know it. I feel better, and even though I’m grumbling all the way through the work out, I always feel better afterwards. I think I cried through half of my work out the other day, because I felt annoyed with myself for letting other things get in the way of me taking care of me.

That’s not going to happen again. It may sound selfish, but if I don’t take care of myself, then how can I take care of anyone else?
It’s time for some changes. Now that JJ is better with his potty training, and I’ve found a balance… look out world 🙂

Ooops

Filed under: Life — gardener @ 11:38 am

Ooops. Looks Like I’ve really gotten behind on the 30 days to greater happiness. I’ll try to catch up tomorrow or the next day. We’ve been a little busy around the wizzy household getting ready for Thanksgiving, planning parties, and attending dinners. You know how it is- the life of a socialite is never dull. haha

From the Guest Bedroom

Today I decided that I wanted to work from the comforts of the guest bedroom, so I grabbed my new laptop and headed off with Mister M. to this little space. It is cozy, the sun wasn’t glaring in my eyes, and because I keep the window cracked in here, it is cool. At some point during the day, Marcel came in and brought me coffee and commented that I haven’t turned my desktop computers on in a while. He’s right. I have been enjoying not having to sit at the desk, although I’m sure before the week is over I’ll spend some time there, after all, that IS where all my major files and information lie.

Home Improvement

Filed under: Life — gardener @ 12:38 pm

Marcel and I have been thinking that it’s time to start doing a few more home improvements in the house. We’ve been talking about it for quite some time, but it seems like one thing or another comes up and we never actually get anything productive done. Personally, I want to wait until after the first of the year, since the holidays are quickly approaching, but he wants to start within the next week. We are wanting to replace the doors throughout the house, add rocker switches to all the lighting, and possibly add crown moulding throughout. My idea? Hire someone to do it all so we don’t have the headache.

I’ll keep y’all posted on how it plays out.

Taking Charge

Filed under: Life — gardener @ 11:24 am

Things have been so busy lately that I feel like I am a passenger in my own life story. I decided today that something had to change, so I’m going to be making a few changes in my life, in the way I approach my work projects and a few other things. It may take me a little while to get things the way I want them, but I have to remind myself that it’s time to start taking time for me, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do.

More on this process later.

Learning Curve

Filed under: Life — gardener @ 10:33 am

Today was one of those typical Monday’s when it seemed like I was paddling backwards in a boat with a strong current. Luckily, I can say that the day is almost over and Desere is coming over shortly for coffee, chat and for us to watch Grey’s together. Lately, my work has allowed me to research various things such as best acne treatments and also the benefits of lycopene. No, the two aren’t related, but the great thing about my job is that not only do I get to do something I love, I also get to feed the grey matter, and learning is something that challenges me and makes me thrive.

Changes coming…. see next entry.

Not So Sweet Deal

Filed under: In the Neighborhood,Life — gardener @ 1:04 pm

In an effort to become ‘happier’ I bought myself some 72% pure chocolate today. I haven’t had any of it yet, but I did share some chocolate truffle pie with Marcel at a local cafe today. It wasn’t as sweet as it may have been had he not just received a ticket for 100.00 for parking without using the parking tag that we were supposed to put in our window. He thought about it 10 minutes after we’d parked, but because it was so busy in our town, the parking police were obviously out in droves and gave him a ticket. Now all we can do is pray that the ticket disappears and that we never receive it in the mail. One can hope, right?

Staying Young

Filed under: Life,Shop til ya Drop — gardener @ 9:41 am

For those of you who know my mom, you also know that she looks great to be just over the age of 60. She doesn’t have any wrinkles and doesn’t use anti wrinkle cream, because truth is, she doesn’t need it. Even though I’m a little over 40 (20 years younger than mom), I also know that I look younger than my age. I can only hope that when I get to be moms age that I look as great as she does.

Many people think that the key to looking young is in the genes, but I also happen to believe that lifestyle plays a huge part in that. What do you think?

Raining Cats and Dogs

Filed under: Life — gardener @ 8:45 am

It has been raining cats and dogs here for the past two days now and I hope that there is some dry weather in sight. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day with doctors appointments for both Marcel and JJ, which means that I’ve got to make sure that all of my work is done in the morning.

Right now, all is quiet in the house. Marcel decided to nap early because he wants to watch the soccer game tonight before going to work. I’m not sure if that’s going to make things easier for me or not. I guess we’ll see.

One thing is for sure, I’m in the mood to bake and want to get some banana bread made tomorrow even if I don’t indulge.
