Travel Planning

Marcel and I have been planning and plotting for our upcoming vacation and we are already getting requests on doing different things. Plus, since we’ll be spending the holidays at home this year, I’ve already started thinking about Christmas gifts. I have an idea for a gift for my nephew, plus I know someone who would be thrilled to find themselves with some Taylor Swift tickets. Of course, it’s a good thing that they don’t read this blog, because I’d had to spoil any surprises before they happen. It’s still several months away, but I’m so excited about our trip.

Unexpected Trip

I found out that a friend of mom’s is going to be flying through the area tomorrow and has a six hour layover here, so I’m meeting her at the airport and taking her into the city to have a look around, plus have dinner. I’m looking forward to finally meeting her, since I’ve heard so much about her over the past year or so from mom. I’ve spoken to her on the phone and we’ve emailed a few times, so I’m really looking forward to it.

Plus, the great thing is, that will also mean a impromptu trip to Starbucks and a Mocha Frappuccino Light. YUM!

I (Heart) The Internet

One of my favorite things about the Internet is the fact that if I want to know something, the information is pretty much at my fingertips. At this point, I don’t believe there is anything I haven’t been able to find online, and believe me, my interests vary. I’ve searched for everything from merchant account resellers to restaurants in cities I plan to visit. I’ve even looked for specific plants and bugs. I’ve found it all. It definitely makes our worlds a little smaller doesn’t it?

If we want to visit Australia or New Zealand, it’s nothing more than a few clicks away and we are vitually there within seconds.

Vacation Planning Stages

Marcel and I are  am planning our two month trip home for the holidays and yesterday mom asked what I had in mind for our trip home.    Granted, just being home with family and friends is a vacation in itself, but since we didn’t get away much last trip, we thought it would be nice to do some traveling this time around.

At the moment there are plans to visit Florida to spend a week or more at Disney.   At this point those plans are pretty much up in the air, depending on several factors.

Desere will also be joining us for ten days and it looks like we may take a cruise while she’s with us.   She’s coming to spend her 40th birthday with us, and since Marcel were already thinking about taking the cruise, and when we told Desere about it she expressed interest in going as well.   I’ve never been on a cruise, so it’s definitely something to look forward to.

I’m sure I’ll be sharing more as the planning develops.

It’s All About the Comfort

I’ve been trying to gather a few things to take with us this weekend on our little get away and I pulled out my favorite comfy lounge pants and a shirt that is about four sizes too big for me, but also one of my most comfortable and favorites. I had everything stacked neatly on the bed, and Marcel commented that my choice of sleeping attire left something to be desired and commented that maybe I should be thinking about wearing corsets instead. I just gave him ‘the look’ and he said that he thought he might have to do a little shopping of his own. I didn’t comment and walked off to tend to dinner. And in case you’re wondering- I am taking my lounge pants and favorite shirt, and WILL be wearing them.

Tiptoeing….

It’s no secret that tulips are one of my favorite flowers, and earlier this week when I had a chance to literally go tiptoeing through the tulips, I grabbed my camera and off I went.

I actually thought they would be past their peak, but surprisingly there were some colors that were just starting to bloom.  As you can see, it’s a sea of color and I walked along the field passing each color and taking a moment to pause and take in the beauty that each color had to offer.

The smell was almost intoxicating, and once I walked through all the colors, I decided rather than walking back that jogging may be more fun, plus get the heart pumping a little harder than usual.

I’m sure Marcel and his mom wondered what I was running from.  Maybe they even thought that one of the tulip farmers was hot on my tail, but nothing could have been further from the truth.   I simply wanted to run alongside the beautiful colors and make my way back to them.    Once I made it back, I asked Marcel to take a few pictures of me lying in the tulips.  Even though he gave me an odd look when I asked, he obliged me, and my favorite is now my Facebook profile photo.

This is one of many ‘little’ things that bring joy to my life.   I think it’s important to tap into those things that bring us joy and spend time with them.

What brings you joy?

Gettin’ Away

It looks like Marcel and I are finally going to take that little vacation that we’ve been talking about doing for months now. Even though we have our vacation for this winter booked and ready to go, I have been itching to ‘get out of dodge’ for a while and just relax.

If all goes according to plan (we’ll know this coming week), then we’ll be heading away the weekend after Mother’s Day for a long weekend (Friday-Monday). I’ve found the location of where we’ll be staying and we’ll be taking JJ with us. We went back and forth on the idea for a while, since it will mean taking him literally everywhere we go, because I don’t think it’s fair to him to leave him alone (even in his crate) in a unfamiliar place, but ultimately I knew it would be fun for him.

I also realized that while we would be away that we would be passing close to the town where JJ’s breeder lives and since it’s time for him to have his seasonal ‘plucking’ and grooming session, I’d love to make an appointment and have her do it. Her prices are much cheaper than the lady we were going to use in the area, and since we wouldn’t be going out of our way to drive there, we’d actually be saving money by doing so.

That’s our plan at the moment, and I’m so ready to get away. I’ll have my mother in law check in on Mister, although he’ll be fine because I’ll make sure he has enough food and fresh water to keep him for a few days. I know he gets lonely though. I’m excited about this little get away, and since I’ve been saving change for months now, we have enough saved that it should pay for the entire weekend getsaway, provided we don’t buy anything extravagant. I’m excited and soo ready!

Making the Most of Each Day

It seems as though the days have been flying by at warp speed lately. I actually thought that the time I had off this past week would somehow allow me more time in the day since I wasn’t working, and in reality it did give me those hours, but I packed them full with many other things, such as spending days with friends and with Marcel.

I’ve also been spending more time outside with JJ, because the weather was too fabulous to keep me indoors for long. I have to admit that I haven’t spent much time on the elliptical, but what I have lost on the elliptical, I’ve made up for with walking and a little jogging.

Marcel and I are also planning a weekend away, and I’ve been looking at various locations. I think I’ve found where I’d like to go, which will put us close to several places that I’d like to see, plus it will be great for taking walks with JJ, who I think we’ll take along with us.

I realized as I was typing this that today is May 2nd, and the anniversary of my grandma’s death. I still miss her to this day. I love the ‘wiz’dom that comes with getting older, but what I don’t care for is losing those we love. I know she would be proud of me though- in fact, I believe both grandma’s would.

Moving Made Easy

Probably one of the most important decision a person will make when they decide to make a move is whether they will do the move themselves or whether they’ll hire someone. Doing the job yourself is definitely the most cost effective way, and once that choice is made, there are important factors to consider such as where to get moving boxs. Rather than traveling all over town trying to find boxes, it’s not only more cost effective but also convenient to order exactly what you want and need online and have it delivered straight to your door.
