Dear..

Dear Body-

I don’t think I’ve ever taken the time to thank you for always being there for me when I need you.   You never fail to perform and continue to be strong and kind to me, even when I’ve not always treated you the way I should.    I appreciate you-  every single inch and I just wanted to thank you for everything.

Love always-

Me

Sunny Days-

The weather has been absolutely perfect today- so it only made sense for me to toss the ‘to-do’ list in the corner and head out to the beach for coffee and to soak up a few rays.

When we arrived there were only a few people there, but it didn’t take long before it started getting busy-  I can imagine that by the time mid-afternoon rolled around, the place was packed.

I SO love Spring!

If today was any indication of what the rest of the weekend is going to look like- weather wise-  You can rest assured that there won’t be any cleaning (or cooking) going on in this household, unless it’s done outside.

Indulgence

Filed under: Shop til ya Drop,Things I Love — gardener @ 7:36 am

It is absolutely no secret to anyone who knows me that I love handbags.  I also love red, so when the two merge- it could be dangerous.   Shopping is one of my ‘things’ (I do seem to have many) and when I saw this bag-  all I could think of was how much I’d love to own it.

No, I don’t own it, although Marcel did ask me how much it was- and I think he was tempted to buy it for me as a little surprise.   Oh how I was tempted, but I know that I’d really like to have a new sofa and living room furniture, so I had to think-   sofa- handbag ,  handbag- sofa.   The practical side won, so it looks like it will be a sofa as opposed to the indulgence that I’d really like to take.

I’m not giving up though-

Everyone has their vices- and handbags just happen to be one of mine.

Surprises

Earlier today Marcel brought in the mail. He handed me a card and said that someone left it in the mailbox for me. My name was scrawled across the center of the envelope, but nothing else. From the lack of postage- I knew it had to be from someone local. When I opened it, I saw a beautiful card with a picture of the lavender fields in France on the front. I figured it was from one of my neighbors, but instead it was from one of my dear friends, Hein (Desere’s husband). He went to France last year and I told him how much I’d love to see the lavender fields there. He said he’d take pictures. I forgot about it, but apparently he didn’t. The card said that since he’d forgotten to take a picture of the fields, he was giving me the card instead.

I can’t begin to describe the joy that I felt from that card. I love surprises and it’s the ones that completely catch you off guard that are the best. This one definitely ranks high on my list of ‘catch me completely off guard’ surprises. That little card made my day- and also showed me once again just how truely blessed I am to have such wonderful people in my life.

Life—

Some of what happens in life is out of our control, but the way we choose to react to what happens is always our choice and can make a huge difference on how things play out.

#43- Don’t Log into Facebook for a Week

I’m happy to be able to check this off my list of 101 things in 1001 days, as it was one that I wasn’t sure how easy it would be to pull off.

The idea was to spend one week without logging into Facebook, and I really thought I’d miss it. I also thought that by not logging into Facebook that I’d accomplish a lot more, but that was a quickly dispelled myth.

My favorite people are on Facebook. Some people whine and complain about how they don’t like Facebook (but yet, they’re still on there), but I absolutely love it. Seriously, it’s a plethora of most of my favorite people in one place and I love it- It makes me seem a little closer to them, as opposed to the miles that separate most of us. There are some people that I love that aren’t on Facebook and I have to rely on other methods to keep in touch with them, but that’s ok- I can’t have ‘everything’, now can I?

I will admit- that aside from one private message that I received from a friend that was urgent, and I didn’t have an email address to mail her, I logged in and responded to the message a few days ago and then logged right back out. I didn’t look at my wall, I didn’t read the latest feeds, nor did I respond to the other messages that were not urgent. (In case you were wondering how I knew I had a private message- I do get emails that let me know I have private messages on Facebook.) I decided that since I did log-in to respond to the message (I was there maybe two minutes), I added another hour to my week, which has now officially come and gone.

Now- time to go see what everyone has been up to.

The Joy of Pets

The weather has been absolutely perfect today, so when Marcel and I got home from a little running around- we decided to take our adorable little JJ for a walk over to Desere’s house.  She was sitting in the back yard soaking up some sun and we decided that we’d join her.

Aside from my mother-in-law’s, JJ has never really been to people’s homes.   We never want to assume JJ is welcome, and Desere is actually allergic.   We asked if it would be ok if we brought him, since we would be sitting outside and she was fine with it.   I’m happy to report that he acted like the perfect little gentleman, and I was a proud pup owner.

Desere went through some old balls of K and T’s and found the one that you see in the picture.  She gave it to JJ to play with, and you would have thought he’d been given a piece of gold.  He played, played and played some more.

By the time we walked the 3/4 mile there, he played with the ball and then walked the 3/4 mile home- the little guy is exhausted.   Isn’t it amazing how animals can bring such a great amount of joy to our lives?    I don’t know what I’d do without both him and Mister M.   They are truly a bright spot.

Making a List

Filed under: Home,Shop til ya Drop — gardener @ 7:21 am

Marcel have been talking a while about changes we would like to make ‘in-house’. We have ceramic tiles throughout most of our home, with the exception of the three bedrooms and one hall- those are laminate. When we bought the place, we found something that we liked, but since then I’m not sure if my taste has changed, or that maybe I was feeling pressure of getting everything done so we could move in so we just picked ‘something’, but now I’m really hating what we have.

One of the things on our ‘to do’ list is to change the flooring in those rooms, but everything we’ve looked at has been expensive. I want something nice, but also want to get the best deal for my money, so I’m waiting for a laminate flooring sale to see what kind of deals we can find. I’ve got a few ideas of what I’d like, but I’m going to have to be patient, and let me tell you- that isn’t going to be easy.

In the meantime, I’m continuing to get rid of things that we aren’t using in hopes to save a little extra cash for the new sofa and chairs that we want to get later this year.

Clean Out My Closet

Clean out my Closet is number #21 on my list of 101 things in 1001 days list that I’ve compiled (that you can find by clicking here). I’m happy to say that I have checked that monsterous task off my list and even had a little help from Marcel.

The closet needed cleaning out before we took our vacation, but I still had not taken the time- and that meant a moving box filled with clothing that I’d bought while at home- that still had not found a place in the closet. It also meant that I hadn’t been wearing any of it either, but now I can.

Surprisingly- I have a few things that I actually tossed in the garbage, and about 5 things that I’m giving to the local thrift store. The rest has been organized and found a place in the closet where it belongs.

When I first started earlier today- I was slighly overwhelmed, but now that it’s done- I am SO happy. I’ve also asked myself what took me so long.

If you’ve been putting off cleaning and organizing your closet; Make like “Nike” and ‘Just do it’. I can assure you that you’ll be glad you did.
