Getting Back to Gratitude

Filed under: Gratitude — gardener @ 2:51 am

I haven’t done a gratitude list in so long, that I really thought that it was about time I started doing them again. It isn’t that I am not grateful for so many things in my life, because I am, but the truth is, I’ve not felt very grateful lately, and that’s the exact moment that I should be pausing and thinking about what I should be grateful for.

No matter what life may toss our way, or no matter how difficult we may think we have it- there is always something to be grateful for.

My Gratitude List for December 22, 2009.

Today I’m Grateful For:

  • Marcel, for going out with JJ this morning so that I can get a few things done around the house before he goes to work.
  • The beautiful snow, that brings joy to my heart even though I know it’s a nightmare for so many.
  • The sound that it makes when you walk across freshly fallen snow.
  • The TRUE reason for the season,  Christ.
  • The little angels in this world who lift me up and bring a smile to my face when I need it most.

30 Days to Greater Happiness

I haven’t really made it a secret that I’ve been struggling a little as of late. Ok, maybe it’s even more than a little, but I am still trying to dig myself out of this deep, dark hole that I’m in. Slowly, but surely I know this will pass.

Because I know that nothing happens as an accident, I couldn’t help but smile this morning when I opened my email and found one from SparkPeople about spending November working your way towards greater happiness. Even though I am a happy person on the whole, I thought it couldn’t hurt to put these little things into practice.

Because I also love to share things that I think could possibly benefit another person, I’m going to share them with y’all as well. This means I’ll be sharing one each day for the rest of the month. Since today is the 2nd of November- I’ll add the one for today and yesterday, so we’ll be caught up.

Thank you Spark People.

30 Days to Greater Happiness-

November 1-Start a hobby. People who engage in captivating activities are more satisfied with life. Lose yourself (and your worries) by cooking, dancing, sewing or writing.

November 2- Get Plenty of Sleep. Keep a consistent sleep schedule and get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night for more energy and less moodiness.

Now that JJ is sleeping through the night, I’m actually getting back on the sleep track, but I could definitely spend somre more time with my hobbies. I’m going to do just that. It’s time to read more, take more pictures, and make some jewelry. Who knows, maybe I’ll even pull out my paints again. I’ve also been in the mood to bake- time to do something with those bananas.. Banana muffins anyone?

Getting Back to Gratitude

Filed under: Gratitude — gardener @ 8:33 am

I’m not sure why, but lately I’ve been feeling a little depressed. I really don’t know why, other than maybe it is hormonal, but I’m not one to get down and stay down, so I need to pick myself up and dig myself out of this little hole I’m in. I’ve felt frustrated about many things, and I need to start focusing on the more positive things in life, as I do have SO much to be grateful for.

I’m going to get back to these daily gratitude lists, which gives me the time to pause and reflect on all that is good in my life and all that I’m grateful for.

My Gratitude List for October 25, 2009.

Today I’m Grateful For:

  • Baby JJ and Mister Mistoffelees who have brought alot of laughter and joy to my life by their prescence.
  • The sound of leaves crumpling beneath my feet as I walk through them.
  • Sunshine and a gorgeous fall day.
  • Marcel for all his help around the house while I’m working.
  • My health.

Gratitude

Filed under: Gratitude — gardener @ 2:06 am

Happy Saturday y’all.

Well, I survived yet another Dutch birthday party celebration. Seriously, I don’t generally mind them, but when it’s ‘that time’ and the cramps are not great, then I really prefer to crawl in bed and snooze. But you know what they say- no rest for the wicked. We had a good time, and it was great to see everyone that I hadn’t seen in a while.

Today is officially Marcel’s birthday and he’s watching the soccer game at the moment and I’m attempting to play catch up.

What I realized is that I haven’t done a gratitude list in a while. It doesn’t mean that I’m any less grateful, but it means that I haven’t taken the time to actually pause and be grateful, and I need to be more conscious about doing that. It makes a difference in my life, and I believe gratitude is important. We All have something to be grateful for.

My Gratitude List for October 10, 2009.

Today I’m Grateful For:

  • Marcel, who turns 44 today.
  • Olivia, who won homecoming queen last night at her school.  When I saw the news this morning, I cried.
  • Ainsley, who in spite of all her trials lately has risen above it all with grace and dignity.
  • Being blessed with my current job that I love so much.
  • True friendships, which are more precious to me than gold.
  • Mom and diddy- for helping me out with a little project, and for being the wonderful parents that they are.

Grateful

Filed under: Gratitude — gardener @ 6:25 am

I’m so excited. Mom called me last night to let me know that diddy would be shipping me a flat rate box filled with steel-cut oats today. If all goes well with the shipping, I should have those precious little oats in my hand sometime next week, which means that I can quit eating yogurt for a while. YIPPEEE!!

I know, it doesn’t take much to make me excited, but I love my steel-cut oats.

Since I technically should be working, I will share a few things that I’m grateful for, and then dash off.

My Gratitude List for September 18, 2009

Today I’m Grateful For:

  • Mom and diddy sending my steel-cut oats.
  • Continued work.
  • Mister M. who always brings a smile to my face.
  • Our Upcoming night away with Hein and Desere.
  • Seeing Baby JJ on Sunday
  • Cool, Crisp air
  • Bible Study beginning again
  • My brother and nephew whom I love dearly
  • Friends, each and every one.
  • Marcel, for doing the dishes and helping me around the house since I started working.

Happiness Is….

Filed under: Gratitude — gardener @ 12:27 pm

Happiness is when your mom tells you that she and diddy just ordered you 25 pounds of steel-cut oats.    YEAHHHHH!!   Needless to say, I’m overjoyed.  I can’t wait to get them.

Thanks mom and diddy.  I love yáll.   I loved you before the oats, but I love you even more now 🙂  xxx

What makes you happy today?

Gratitude

Filed under: Gratitude — gardener @ 4:12 pm

Since the last entry I made, the rains have stopped and my imminent need for a boat has passed. The winds have also died down to almost nothing, and with the rains went the temps. The weather has been cool and downright fallish, and truth is- I’m loving it..

This coming week, I think I’m going to take my work outside and see what I can get accomplished while using Marcel’s laptop, provided that he doesn’t need it.

I haven’t made a gratitude list in a while, and I do have much to be grateful for, so before I say goodnight:

My Gratitude List for September 5, 2009.

Today I’m Grateful For:

  • Phone calls from friends.
  • Mister M. being wonderful while I tried to get my work done.
  • The soon-to-be addition to our family.
  • Progress
  • Marcel, for the little things in house that he did for me today to make my life easier.

Gratitude List

Filed under: Gratitude — gardener @ 12:17 pm

Since I forgot it in the previous entry- I wanted to take a moment out of this day and reflect on a few of the things I’m grateful for today. May this encourage or inspire you to do the same, and if you wish- feel free to share a few things you’re grateful for in comments.

My Gratitude List for August 24, 2009.

Today I’m Grateful For:

  • Meeting the goals that I’ve set for myself today and recognizing that I need to write a specific goal plan, rather than allowing it to swim in my head.  Seeing it on paper will help me achieve those goals.
  • Spending part of the afternoon with Bobbi, whom I’ve missed seeing.
  • My favorite tuna steaks being on sale.
  • Easy days in the kitchen, otherwise known as minimal cooking due to warmer weather.
  • Marcel, for not only washing the whites today, but also for hanging them on the line to dry.

Cold Water

Well, I checked my bathwater and I was right- it’s cold. I’m adding a little more right now and am headed off for a swim in the tub, followed by catching up with emails, and thinking about what I’m going to be eating this evening for dinner. Once I get all that done- I’ll be ready to catch up with Survivor.

Whatever you find yourself doing today- Make sure you have fun!

My Gratitude List for August 23, 2009.

Today I’m Grateful For:

  • Marcel for taking out the trash and mailing a letter for me.
  • A day of rest and catching up.
  • The smell of fall in the air.
  • OPI nail polish.
  • My new job.

Life is Good…

So many wonderful things are happening in my life at the moment, that I’m bursting with gratitude for so many things- I have so much to write and share, but yet time doesn’t allow me to spend the time writing right now that I’d like. I’ve spent the better part of my day on the computer, emailing back and forth with project managers for several different projects which were in the works- all of which seem to have panned out, which is going to make for a very busy Lori.

I’m excited about it, but it’s going to mean me learning how to better utilize my time and goofing off playing Farkle on facebook isn’t going to be one of the options I have.

I’ll share more as time allows.

Tomorrow I have an appointment with my stylist- although how I’m going to fit that in with tomorrows activities is beyond me. I’ll figure it out though- after all they don’t call me “Wizzy” for nothing.

As for now- my bath water awaits- so I leave you with a gratitude list and lots of love.

My Gratitude list for August 19, 2009.

Today I’m Grateful For:

  • New opportunities and possiblities.
  • Having the opportunity to chat with my brother for a little while.
  • Opi nail polish
  • Finding Mister M’s secret hiding place. (more on that later)
  • Cool baths on a warm summer day.
